Selank and Semax were developed at the same institute from two entirely different parent molecules, which is what makes them a natural research pairing rather than a redundant one. Selank is a stabilised tuftsin analogue studied for GABAergic and serotonergic modulation — the anxiolytic side of the neuropeptide literature. Semax is an ACTH(4-10) fragment, engineered to keep BDNF/NGF and monoamine-pathway activity while dropping ACTH's hormonal action — the cognitive and neurotrophic side. Studied side by side, they let researchers separate mood-pathway signaling from cognitive-pathway signaling within a closely related structural family, spanning neurotrophic support and stress-signaling balance.
